Baltimore-Washington Kriya Yoga Center

The celebration on July 1 had a Cultural Program, which included Tagore’s Ravindra Sangeet, Indian classical dance called Odissi dance and songs in honor of Gurudev. The cultural program was preceded by general guided meditation by Paramahamsa Prajnanananda and a talk by Swami Samarpanananda on the significance of Gurudev’s life and his Centenary Celebrations. The Governor of Maryland had sent his message of good will for the program, which was read publicly.

During the intermission, the books and special Centenary merchandise were on display for sale, a special video of Gurudev was running continuously, and the special photo exhibit of Gurudev's life was displayed.

Then Paramahamsa Prajnanananda, Shri Swami Shankarananda, and Mr. Roy Eugene Davis gave discourses on Sat-Chit-Ananda to more than 170 participants. This was the first time in this area that teachers from the same lineage, but from different organizations came together on the same platform!

The general centenary celebration at the Center included meditation, initiations, talks on Gurudev’s life, and spiritual discourses with the Swamis. We accomplished the goal of bringing Gurudev’s life and teachings to the spiritual seekers in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area.
